if you see a turtle somewhere, log into this website:
http://www.torontozoo.com/adoptapond/TurtleTally.asp?t=form and enter
where/when you saw it. The Ontario Turtle Tally wants the information for
tracking purposes because 7 of the 8 turtle species in Toronto are
endangered!
3. Microcredit Conference: Learn about
microcredit - what it is, case studies, and other presentations regarding
microcredit within the context of Rotary. This is an excellent networking
opportunity if microcredit and other financial systems are of interest of
you. This will take place on Nov. 14th from 9am-4pm at 789 Yonge Street
(Toronto Reference Library) and the cost is $20 / student. For more
information, visit
http://www.microfinanceconference.ca/index.html
4. District 7070 Conference recap: This was
a ton of fun! There were tons of workshops, presentations, and various other
motivational activities to help everyone get in the spirit of Rotary. Also,
there was a lot of helpful take-away information for Rotaract, like ideas on
what individual clubs could take on as projects, as well as some
opportunities to get to know what other Rotaract clubs in District 7070 are
already doing! See pictures here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/uoftrotaract/RotaryDistrictConference2009
Not only that but we were only one of two Rotaract clubs
in the region to receive a Rotaract Presidential Citatio, a feat we've
achieved for two years running! In order to qualify for this recognition,
the club in question must complete a certain percentage of activities from a
long list of requirements. To view last year's list, visit
http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/900a_en08.pdf . Let's keep up
the good work, and try to achieve this again this year! Great job everyone!
5. Princess Margaret Hospital 5K recap:
There were some very positive comments for everyone from Rotary who came out
to support this! Since Jackie was only there for the Sunday shift, could
those that attended on Friday and Saturday please email
rotaract@utoronto.ca
with the subject "PMH 5K" to confirm your attendance.
6. UNICEF Trick or Eat: This is occurring
on Friday October 30th at the Queen's Park TTC subway station. Just
show up for your shift (feel free to dress up!) and everything will be set
up for you already. If you are still interested in signing up for the
morning shift (7-9am) please contact

with the subject line "Trick or Eat".
7. Community Service Projects: Sunshine
Centre for Seniors at Yonge and Bloor are interested in getting a group of
about 10 people on Tuesday November 17th from 12-3PM to make
preserves with the seniors there! There will be more information coming, but

rotaract@utoronto.ca
with the subject line "Sunshine Centre".
